Night train Berlin–Copenhagen–Stockholm

Take the night train from Berlin to Stockholm! Enjoy a good night's sleep in a Private Compartment. Enjoy food and beverages in our restaurant "Krogen" Malmö–Stockholm or buy some snacks and drinks from the kiosk Berlin–Malmö. After a good night's sleep you will wake up rested at your destination – ready for a new day of adventures!

All Snälltåget departures also stop in Hamburg, which is a perfect stop for those who are going on to Europe by train. Some departures also stop in Dresden.

The train always continues to Hamburg and Berlin. It extends to Dresden on Fridays until 31 October, on Wednesdays from 26 November to 10 December, as well as on Friday 27 March and on Fridays between 10 April and 1 May.

Departures from Germany

The train departs from Dresden on Sundays until 2 November, on Sundays from 30 November to 14 December, as well as on Sunday 29 March and on Sundays between 12 April and 3 May.

Food and drinks onboard

Enjoying a nice meal in our restaurant on your way to your adventure is a must. Visiting our restaurant Krogen is popular and therefore we have a reservation system. Book a table in advance to secure your spot in our restaurant!

The restaurant Krogen is open between Stockholm and Malmö and vice versa, 16.00–21.00 on your southbound journey and 09.30–14.00 on your northbound journey. 

Between Malmö and Berlin you can visit our kiosk which is located in the train crews' compartment and offers smaller assortment of drinks and snacks. Here we sell coffee, water, soft drinks, wine, beer and snacks. This is also where you pick up your pre-ordered breakfast bag. When the train crew checks tickets, the kiosk is closed.

Pre-order your breakfast!

Ensure you start your day in a great mood by pre-ordering your breakfast bag! The breakfast bag includes a double cheese sandwich, cinnamon bun, juice, and a hot drink (coffee, hot chocolate, or tea) and costs 99 SEK when pre-ordered. Vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options are available.

You can pre-order breakfast when purchasing your ticket or via My Journey. If you purchase breakfast on board, it costs 109 SEK and is subject to availability.

Snälltåget uses green energy from water, wind and sun to reduce the environmental impact of your journey.

The best and most convenient way to buy tickets to Snälltågets train services is here on our website, at the top of the page or on the homepage. Prices vary due to departure and comfort class and are available in the online booking.

In our online booking system you can combine Snälltåget night train service with our connecting bus services from Blekinge and Växjö.

Special price on private compartments Stockholm–Berlin and Malmö–Berlin!

Travel in your own private compartment at a favourable rate:

  • 1–2 people: from SEK 1,499
  • 3 people: from SEK 2,249
  • 4–6 people: from SEK 2,999

The price applies per single journey with a rebookable ticket. Close to departure, the offer also applies to non-rebookable and non-refundable tickets.

Valid for departures Monday–Thursday in both directions until 23 October 2025 and between 13 and 30 april 2026.

The offer also applies to Interrail for two or more people travelling from Stockholm.

Availability is limited – book early!

Is a passport required for travel?

To travel on the night train from Berlin to Malmö, all passengers must have a valid:

  • Passport with MRZ code or 
  • National ID card of EU standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by a national authority within the EU / EEA.

The ID document must be presented at check-in and on board the train.

This applies to all travelers, including children.

The documents must be provided in the ticket control.

The border police carries out regular controls.

How do I travel with the night train?

Boarding the night train is the start of your adventure. You can choose between different comfort levels, but if you travel together, you will have the best experience if you book a Private Compartment.

Seat – the budget-friendly option

You have a reserved seat in a coach (open saloon). When travelling on your own – you get your own seat and if you're travelling together, you will get seats next to each other.

Berth in shared Compartment – for solo travellers

You share a compartment with other passengers - up to six persons. When you board, the compartment is in seat mode and when it is time for bed, you and the other passengers in the compartment turn the seats into berths. In night mode, there are three berths on each side of the compartment and you can reach the upper berths with a ladder. Pillows, pillowcases, sheets, blankets and duvets for making the bed are included in the price.

Shared Compartment is available for night time travellers.

Private Compartment – if you travel together

You have a private compartment for you or your company of up to six people. When you board, the compartment is in seat mode and when it is time for bed, you turn the seats into berths. In night mode, there are three berths on each side of the compartment and you can reach the upper berths with a ladder. Pillows, pillowcases, sheets, blankets and duvets for making the bed are included in the price.

Private Compartment is available for night time travellers.

Can I travel with a pet?

Animals are allowed in Private Compartments. You can book this by checking the box "I want to travel with a pet" in the first step of the online booking.

Can I bring my bike?

It is not possible to bring bikes on the train. If you have a folding bike it could be put as a hand luggage in your compartment or on the luggage rack in the seating coach.

Are Interrail passes valid?

Interrail Global Passes are valid, but you must purchase a reservation which you can book here on our website, at the top of the page or on the homepage.
